We value the importance of balance between work and family life; and promote this philosophy throughout the company.Job Summary:Martinus are seeking a Fitter and Turner to join our Plant team, based from Rocklea, Brisbane.Our Fitter and Tuners are to fits, assemble, grinds and shapes metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment.Tasks and Responsibilities:Studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settingsFitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipmentChecking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instrumentsSetting guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses, and setting controls for textile machinesForming metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metalCutting, threading, bending and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and linesPreparing pattern mechanisms to control the operation of textile machines used to spin, weave, knit, sew and tuft fabricDiagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipmentMay erect machines and equipment on-siteResponsible for upholding the Martinus Rail principles and company culture.Focus on Martinus Rail’s commitment to achieve ‘target zero’, being no injuries or illnesses to people or incidents that adversely affect the environment.Complete required tasks day-to-day relevant to scope of works.Participate in site management of health, safety, quality, and environment management.Take part in risk management processes, identify, and mitigate risks prior to works commencing. Actively seek to increase efficiency and effectiveness of all Martinus Rail systems and processes, relevant to the specific job and the overall organisation.Onsite face to face participation of toolbox talks, pre-start, and other inductions. Qualifications – Complete a Certificate III/IV in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent apprenticeship.
