Job summary
Martinus are seeking a Finance Manager to support one of our Major Rail Projects in Brisbane.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Compiling project & overhead forecasts, budgets & forward business plans incl capital & staffing requirements
- Manage project accounting month/year-end close process including project & overhead review; cost & revenue accrual journals and provide supporting docs to Corporate finance.
- Facilitate timely and accurate reporting relating to actual cost and P&L to operations.
- Project cashflow management
- Report on expected and actual project performance against agreed KPIs including root cause analysis. Deep-dive project reviews.
- Business Unit management reporting to Corporate finance in a timely manner including variance analysis commentary
- Draft initial project setup in SAP for Corporate finance review & release incl suggested Delegation Of Authority roll-downs
- Assist project leads with claims, process billing, chase overdue debtors
- Assist project leads with supplier & subcontractor setup and procurement
- Cost reviews including utilisation, timesheet allocations of people & plant, employee movements, subcontractor cost vs forecast, etc
- Understanding of the overall project development requirements and stages of projects
- Assist in compiling audit queries
- Working with other Business Unit and Corporate finance to streamline processes
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Commerce (or industry equivalent)
- Full membership CA/CPA
- Proven Project Accounting and/or Commercial background in a projects-based business
- Analytical skills balanced by an understanding of how businesses and contracts run
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with key stakeholders
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Rail track construction experience highly favourable
