Senior Cost Controller

The RoleMartinus is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller to join our team in our Frenchs Forest head office. The Senior Cost Controller will lead and manage various project cost reporting for Martinus. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to closely collaborate with the operation team to ensure effective cost management throughout the life of our projects. Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to;Lead and manage the project cost control function, ensuring alignment with business objectives and project financial targets.Develop, maintain, and oversee project budgets in coordination with project managers and finance teams, implementing corrective actions as needed.Evaluate change requests, assess financial impacts, and ensure budget updates are accurately reflected.Conduct in-depth cost analysis, tracking expenditures, variances, and financial risks, providing proactive solutions to mitigate cost overruns.Develop and present accurate financial forecasts, providing insights into potential risks and opportunities.Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and internal financial policiesDrive continuous improvement in cost control processes, tools, and reporting frameworks.Collaborate with senior leadership, finance teams, contractors, and clients, providing expert cost management insights and recommendations.Support and mentor junior cost controllers, ensuring best practices in cost management are upheld.Provide strategic input into procurement and commercial decision-making.  Experience/Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.Demonstrated ability to lead cost control functions on complex, large-scale projects.Strong understanding of contractual and commercial management principles, particularly in infrastructure projects.Proven experience in cost control or financial management, preferably within the construction, engineering, or infrastructure sector.Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies.Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting software, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant financial software applications.Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting techniques, and cost management practices.Ability to analyse complex financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights to support decision-making.Prior experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects is desirable.
